I found myself so so much busier than in previous years this National Transplant Week..I always write a "Letter to the Editor" every NTW with our personal story,as well as being published in 5 local papers this year I received various telephone calls as a result of it,I did an interview for local radio station and we were on our local ITV news(Border) as a main feature when we held our awareness/registration stand at our local Tesco's,sadly I cannot share the news coverage as ITV Border's website is under constuction due to their joining Tyne Tees TV they're upping sticks and moving at present..BUT I can share my "Letter to the Editor" and some photos...
This was edited slightly...

We posted 23 ODR forms from people who signed up there and then, answered loadsa questions, gave out loadsa leaflets and registration forms with donor cards, pens, balloons, logo bugs, sweets, window stickers..we met loadsa wonderful supportive people some with amazing stories of thier own,a wonderful woman who's husband had 17yrs with his tx liver and her daughter becoming an organ donor after passing away suddenly due to a brain aneurysm just a few months ago,a lady who's recieved a lung tx 7yrs ago and a gentleman who's awaiting a liver,an American couple who were intreagued about our NHS Organ Donation sytem as well as amazed at our lad Aaron(9yrs post tx and the image of health and energy, what a miracle organ transpalnt is!) and we had a great time..I am a wee bit sun burned..kids were plastered in SPF 40 muggins forgot and I have lovely lines where my LLTGL "I'd give you one.." T-shirt's sleeves went to on my arms...what a muppet LOL still it's not too bad!
So that's us for another year...

Cat I think you're amazing!! The photos look so good and it sounds like you had an incredibly succesful week thanks to a lot of hard work. Aaron is a little star for getting so involved, I bet no one he talked to was able to walk away without signing the ODR! xxx _________________ Emma Harris

Cheers Lou!
Yeah we did have fun doing the stuff we did.
Last year at our local festival's fancy dress a group of us went in as "bags" on a recycled theme...I was the "bag for life" it was a total hoot, dressed in bags for life I also was sandwiched between 2 donor cards and I had "Recycle your body" written on me..I dished out a few ODR leaflets en route and threw ODR sweets to the crowds..there's loadsa ways we can get the message across
Hugs
